Hiking and climbing

Hiking does not only keep you body in shape, it is also the ideal "travel pace", in order to experience the surroundings with all senses.

The romantic Rhine can rightly be named as the eldorado for hikers, since three well-known long-distance hiking trails corss our region. The so called "Rheinsteig" is the most popular one and has become the star among the trails. The fast-changing relief, the breathtaking views from the mountain ranges, the cosy, local stops along the way, or plenty of castles and fortifications, which are bordered along the hiking paths. Hiking in and around Boppard is always an unforgettable experience in a unique landscape. Up here, one might call it ‘high-quality hiking.’

The so-called Middle-Rhine "Klettersteig", which was opened in spring 2006, is an absolute ‘must’ for experienced climbers and hikers. Within a radius of some 300km/180 miles, there’s nothing that compares to it!
